Wooden Estate Horned Gate - ESTIMATED DELIVERY TIME 4 WEEKS - 6 WEEKS (Dependent on Delivery Zone.)

The Horned or Estate Range makes for an impressive entrance with its decorative, extended, curved hanging stile.

The hand of a gate is determined by the positions of the gate hinges when viewing a property from the outside. The hanging stile will be larger on the side that the hinges are positioned. If a pair of gates is required one will be a left hand gate and one will be a right hand gate. You will need to decide which way around you want the gates to be when opening them.

The classic design benefits from a tapered top bar, with a superior hanging stile, joined using traditional mortice & tenon joints - both its rails and vertical braces are reinforced by an extended diagonal brace.

Made from specially selected timber with fewer knots resulting in a more stable gate. The Horned Gate is made from slow grown Scandinavian kiln dried softwood and planed to ensure a smooth attractive finish. It has detailed chamfering to the stiles, top bar and rails. The bracing has stainless steel fixings and is mounted into the domed top bar providing further strength and stability.

Estate 5 Bar gates under 4’6‘’ wide will not have the extended stile and cross brace as standard. However, this can be made to order please contact us for prices.

All our softwood, horned gate range are pressure treated against insect attack and fungal decay for maximum lifespan. Our skilled craftsmen make all our gates in the UK. We can also make gates to order - just call or email us for a quotation.

The height to the top of the horn is 1473mm - 4`10" for all gates except for the 3' & 4' gates - where it is smaller - 1270mm - 4' 2"

Recommended Hinges:

Gate width 3 feet - 6 feet (915mm - 1830mm) - 18 inches (450mm) hinges

Gate width 7 feet - 12 feet (2145mm - 3660mm) - 24 inches (600mm) hinges

The softwood gates have an ESTIMATED DELIVERY TIME 8-12 WEEKS. The hardwood gates are made to order and can be made to measure all the way up to 12’ (3660mm) wide

PLEASE NOTE THESE GATES MUST BE INSTALLED WITH A DROPBOLT.

We strongly recommend using a drop bolt on each gate to ensure that the gate is kept in the correct alignment particularly on the larger gates. This will help prevent the gate twisting

Recommended Treatment

Charltons recommends using a modern UV oil to treat all our planed timber gates. The oils essentially fill the microscopic holes at is it absorbed into the wood and helps protect from deterioration & movement in the wood.

We offer a kerbside delivery service – we will typically try to deliver to your front garden, or driveway: we will leave the product in a safe location adjacent to the main roadway, but off any public highways. Unfortunately, the product cannot be taken around the back of the property, nor can we enter a property for access. If you live in a flat, or terraced house for example, we will still only be able to deliver to the point of the property adjacent to the main roadway. Please ensure that sufficient space is cleared for the delivery, and the delivery vehicle. We will only deliver to registered residential or commercial addresses. We will not deliver to an unsecured allotment, car park, waste ground etc. We will not be held responsible for any damage to your property or any claims resulting from where the delivery is left.

If we are unable to make a delivery, or there is a delay due to access issues, a 20% fee will be payable.

We ask our drivers to be as flexible as possible, but the final decision on delivery remains with them.

Purchased a 3' and a 9' plus 200mm posts for our front drive. Outstanding service and delivery from this company. The gates and posts are superb, now installed look a absolute treat, very in keeping with rural village location, all they need now is a couple of coats of danish oil to show of the grain. I would have no hesitation in recommending these items and the Witham Timber company.
