Wooden 5 Bar Highgrove Gate - "St George"

All our 5 bar St George timber gate range is pressure treated against insect attack and fungal decay for maximum lifespan.

Our St George gate has a universal design, with two 75x100mm stiles - allowing it to be hung as either a right or left hand gate. The straight domed top bar is assembled by traditional mortice & tenon joints - which are supported by robust diamond bracing.

The St George is made from slow grown Scandinavian kiln dried softwood and planed to ensure a smooth attractive finish. Its diamond bracing has stainless steel fixings and is mounted into the domed top bar providing further strength and stability into our best selling 5 bar gate

Our skilled craftsmen make all our wooden gates in the UK. All our St George 5 bar range gates measure 4 feet - 1220mm to the top of the vertical stile. They measure 3' 7" (1090mm) to the top of the top bar.

Recommended Hinges:

Gate width 3 feet - 6 feet (915mm - 1830mm) - 18 inches (450mm) hinges

Gate width 7 feet - 12 feet (2145mm - 3660mm) - 24 inches (600mm) hinges

We can also make 5 bar timber gates to order - just call or email us for a quotation.

These styles of gate are all available from stock and can be made to measure all the way up to 12’ (3660mm) wide

We strongly recommend using a drop bolt on each gate to ensure that the gate is kept in the correct alignment. This will help prevent the gate twisting.

Recommended Treatment

Charltons recommends using a modern UV oil to treat all our planed timber gates. The oils essentially fill the microscopic holes at is it absorbed into the wood and helps protect from deterioration & movement in the wood.

It is important that our gates are hung on the correct hanging stiles using the recommended fittings. Incorrect fitting can lead to gates warping or being damaged.

We offer a kerbside delivery service – we will typically try to deliver to your front garden, or driveway: we will leave the product in a safe location adjacent to the main roadway, but off any public highways. Unfortunately, the product cannot be taken around the back of the property, nor can we enter a property for access. If you live in a flat, or terraced house for example, we will still only be able to deliver to the point of the property adjacent to the main roadway. Please ensure that sufficient space is cleared for the delivery, and the delivery vehicle. We will only deliver to registered residential or commercial addresses. We will not deliver to an unsecured allotment, car park, waste ground etc. We will not be held responsible for any damage to your property or any claims resulting from where the delivery is left.

If we are unable to make a delivery, or there is a delay due to access issues, a 20% fee will be payable.

We ask our drivers to be as flexible as possible, but the final decision on delivery remains with them.
